Thinking Out Loud - Episode 1: Dreaming the solution
Dreaming the solution 💤
Have you ever been so absorbed by a problem for hours or even days that suddenly, you got it?! That feeling is very special. It comes in a lot of different ways. Maybe by talking with another person about their things, listening to music to relax or - the most spectacular for me - when it comes from a dream. Has it happened to you?
Thinking about it, I wonder how long it’s been since the last time. So long!, I have to say.
What is the reason for this?
Maybe there are a lot of factors that could be a subject of this discussion, some of them:
- There are a lot of problems with the same solution. It’s just a change of wrapper
- It’s possible that the learning curve is now flat. 👉👈
- Probably the speed of getting solutions no longer depends on visiting forums.
What other factors am I excluding?
Obviously the title is clickbait, all points are valid. But, there is one not mentioned yet. The AI factor has been the key in the tech world probably since 2020 with GPT-3
A lot of water has passed under the bridge, and there’s no need to reiterate the advantages of AI, so I don’t want to focus on that. Maybe it can be considered a cliche!
That’s it! All roads lead to Rome ✈️
My scapegoat is AI 🤖. The main reason behind my insomnia of solutions.
It’s just a hypothesis, but probably the need to go deeper and deeper to achieve a correct understanding of an issue will disappear in a few years.
It’s possible that the rush to adopt AI from the C-level can be a double-edged sword. The idea that everything could be resolved by AI is, for now, utopian. From another Engineering perspective, it’s difficult to get a single list of rules to apply AI while avoiding hallucinations, incorrect understanding of scope, errors, failures, and bad practices. However, there already exist software engineering pipelines to get close to this goal, with both advantages and risks.
If you’re asking me about the question above, I think there is an invisible battle happening in the shadows. The attention of humans has been a victim of this century, but just a philosophical question: Is our capacity to persist trying to resolve a challenge getting in the crosshairs? I don’t know, it’s difficult to make a bet in such a chaotic situation we are in.
What are these new trends?
The industry changes every day and the companies copy each other in a few months. In other words, the CEOs in their pursuit of maximum profitability have opted to include AI as a tool for everything with the CTOs pushing for this approach. Some take this strategy as a revolutionary idea, when it’s the natural course. AI is the future, I know, that is not under discussion. But, today I would take a moment to reflect on it.
😆 There are posts on Reddit that hilariously exaggerate that idea. Post Reddit
AI as a basic necessity of businesses
None of the companies adopting this approach are capable of being self-sufficient and creating their own AI tools to meet their needs, which are obviously the majority. This trend will make AI Agents as necessary as water in order to be competitive. From a human perspective, this seems a bit hopeless; the power of LLMs will be concentrated only in the biggest AI providers. It’s almost a requirement for companies to invest millions of dollars per year in AI products to avoid falling behind the competition.
A Secure Investment
Days ago, looking for information to get ready for this reflection-post, I saw these announcements.
Few things will be clarified this 2026, but the AI evolution seems to have recently started and we haven’t seen everything yet. This can be exciting and scary at the same time.
Conclusion
Whatever is coming, I would really like to know what you think about it. Leave me a reflection if you want. I will be back with new posts very soon. I leave this post here, there are a lot of interesting points to explore, and next time I’ll get into them. ❤️
